VIII.3.15 Pompeii. About 1906. Garden east side. Curved stibadium or sigma, a semi-circular dining couch.
According to Jashemski –
This unusual building, according to Fiorelli, although originally part of the house at VIII.3.14, had been converted into a caupona.
The garden, which made up a large part of the building, had a portico on the west and south, supported on the south by two square pillars, which were painted with vines. A low wall, which had an entrance on the west, enclosed the garden on the west and south.
In the east part of the garden was a masonry stibadium (3.50m in its widest dimension), the only one found thus far at Pompeii.
It was perhaps shaded by a pergola. The table was supported by a monopodium.

Era l’unica stibadium rinvenuto, finora, a Pompei.
